Uchiki Kuri was introduced to the market 1933 by the japanese breeder Matsumoto Saichiro, and is very popular today. This variety got replaced more and more by  Solor and Fictor, because they are better storable, and yield more fruits. 

Fruits: shape of a spinning top; Size (D): 11 - 20 cm; Flesh: yellow-orange; 3 cm thick, firm; fine-grained, floury to dry, delicate sweet flavour;

Other name: Potimarron; Orange Knirps, Hokkaido;
