(Cucurbita moschata)
This very old Japanes Moschata variety is not widespread anymore in its country of origin but it is very welcome in Europe. The name»Futsu«is used for a place or a person,»Kurokawa« means black skin. It is probably a predecessor of Hayato. This variety not only needs a lot of warmth but also a long time for maturation.
Fruits: russet, almost spherical, flattened on top and at the bottom; Size (DxH): 10 - 16 cm x 9 - 13 cm; record at 3 kg; Flesh: yellowish to orange; 2 cm thick, firm; fine-grained, sweetish, delicious nutty flavour, good quality;
